British fashion couturier and designer Lee Alexander McQueen was born on 17th March 1969 in Lewisham, London and intended to be a fashion designer while designing dresses for his 3 sisters at very young age. He attended Rokeby School and left it in year 1985. McQueen completed his training with Savile Row tailors Anderson & Sheppard and then went to Gieves & Hawkes; afterward he went to Angels and Bermans. Knowledge obtained at Savile Row helped him make his way to fashion industry as a professional.

Alexander McQueen got niche clients including Prince Charles and Mikhail Gorbachev. At the age of twenty he was with Koji Tatsuno and then moved to Italy and Milan to work with Romeo Gigli. In year 1994 he moved to London and submitted an application to Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, to work as a pattern cutter instructor. He completed his post graduation in fashion designing with his graduation collection persuading fashion stylist Isabella Blow who swayed him to consequently launch his fashion career that earned him the mid name - Alexander.
