Marc Jacobs was born on April 9, 1963 in New York City; he held an early interest in fashion, working as a store boy at Charivari, a New York City clothing boutique and attending the High School of Art and Design. He graduated in year 1981 and promptly enrolled at the Parsons School of Design. Not one to be held back, Jacobs had already designed and sold his first compilation prior to his graduation from Parsons.

By year 1994, Jacobs had created his individual, full compilation of menswear; his first. Louis Vuitton (French fashion house) took notice, appointing Jacobs to be their Creative Director, a title he has held since year 1997.

Marc Jacobs' most famous bag (released in 2005) is the "Stam" bag, named after the famous model Jessica Stam. The Stam is big sized quilted leather bag available every season in a range of colors. Unique features of the bag consist of the detachable gold chain strip and the big kiss-lock closure.

You can go through its website and watch videos from his newest fashion shows. You can also view the Marc Jacobs collection, consisting high end apparel, accessories, shoes and handbags online at Nordstrom. For more affordable, edgy fashions, retro and garnishes, shop his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection that made its way in year 2001. Other stores that carry the Marc Jacobs line consist of Neiman Marcus, and Barneys.
