Holiday parties are everywhere, from family dinner to the office party. Winters are an ideal period of the year, where we attend more parties. If figuring out what to wear is something you concern about, relax, and with this simple guide you will be able to easily make it through your party season in style.

To keep it simple, holiday parties can be broken down into categories or themes.

Office party and luncheon

This one is very simple. On this day of the party, wear something you would usually wear to work but add a bit of a festive feel. May be a scarf or pin that is geared towards the holiday, one of those past gifts work great. This is also an ideal time to wear the flashy sweaters that are a bit dressy for the office.

Office party after hours

This party can be a bit tougher since you are combining your work outfit with evening but with planning, it's manageable. Start by wearing something to work that could be enhanced for evening. A suite is a perfect choice. Wear with a dressy top and after work, take the jacket off for an evening look. Bring a dressier pair of shoes or even a dark pair of stockings to dress the outfit up.
You do not wish to go too dressy, remember, if the event is directly from work, nobody anticipates you to look like you are attending a black tie event.

Cocktail party

There are many cocktail parties that are through work or clients or business associates. This is not the time to go ultra sexy or too revealing. Stick with a black dress, not too short or too low cut. Although you don't want to look boring, you also want to uphold the image you've worked hard to maintain.

Open house

This is fun and easy. Depending on the weather, a nice pair of slacks or leggings, one of the new chunky sweaters in a bright color and a pair of boots will work great and you will be comfortable. Holiday pins and scarves add a nice festive touch and are fun, even if they are a bit gaudy.

Don't forget the hair and makeup either. Doing something a bit different for your hair, pinning one side up or a low ponytail will add some flair and elegance. Use something special to pin your hair up with or hold the ponytail, it is the little touches that add tons of style without breaking the bank. Now is also the time you can wear the sparkle eye shadows and red lipstick.
