On October 20, 1988 Candice Swanepoel was born in Mooi River, South Africa. She was marked by model reconnoiter Kevin Ellise in a Durban flea market at the age of fifteen, and by sixteen she was earning 5000 euros for a day’s work. Kevin Ellise whispered, ‘It was like… really, like a stunning flamingo walking past my shop. The way she went away from my shop just did it for me”.

 

She allegedly hit the runway at the nubile age of sixteen. In year 2007 she walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and became the first South African model to walk for Victoria’s Secret. She featured in the 2008 and 2009 shows too, as well as many catalogs and television commercials for Victoria’s Secret.

Candice Swanepoel’s featured on the covers for ELLE (Germany), Vogue (Greece), Marie Claire, GQ, Ocean Drive (U.S.) and Cosmopolitan (South Africa) and advertisements for Agua, Bendita, Diesel, Apriori, Fornarina, Kensie, Guess, Stimorol, Spezzato, Versus eyewear, Tommy Hilfiger, Topshop and Victoria’s Secret.

Swanepoel also walked on the ramp for Dolce and Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger, Betsey Johnson, Sass and Bide, Diane von Fürstenberg and several other designers, as well as for Victoria’s Secret in 2007, 2008, and 2009. In addition to featuring in the lingerie brand’s commercials, she was a featured model in the 2010 “SWIM” catalogue, along with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lindsay Ellingson and Erin Heatherton.
