Los Angeles citizen Tyra Banks has been modeling from the age of sixteen. Tyra Banks was one of the most successful commercial models of the late '90s. She starred in many high profiles ad campaigns, such as for Victoria's Secret. After she walked her last runway in 2005, Banks focuses her attentions now on her TV career. America's Next Top Model, the television modeling competition she developed and produces, has spawned numerous international spinoffs, and her talk show, The Tyra Banks Show, was an immediate success.

On Top Model, Banks provides herself a lot of credit for opening doors for models of color (modesty is one of her greatest traits). Tyra weaves through many looks on her show. Every season she sports a various wig (the gigantic mauve factor from Season 4 was really awesome), although she sticks for the identical basic principles: go hard or go home.
